WJA Safety Awareness and Drain & Sewer Jetting Application

Overview

The Water Jetting Association (WJA) Safety Awareness and Drain & Sewer Jetting Application courses are designed to equip delegates with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and effectively operate high-pressure water jetting equipment. Whether you’re an operator new to water jetting or an experienced professional seeking certification, these courses provide invaluable training tailored to meet the needs of today’s workforce. Rest assured that this qualification upholds national standards and reflects industry best practices.

Through a blend of practical, hands-on activities and theory-based tutorials, delegates will develop a comprehensive understanding of high-pressure water jetting equipment. The courses focus on general safety awareness, manufacturer guidelines, and best practices for safe operation. Participants will gain practical experience and insights into the correct operating methods, ensuring they can apply their knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios.

Day 1 – WJA Mandatory Safety Awareness

This mandatory, classroom-based course takes place over one day and focuses on the theoretical aspects of handling water jetting equipment safely. Key topics include understanding water pressure and flow rates, conducting risk assessments, exploring various types of water jetting, and selecting and using the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Throughout the session, delegates will engage in interactive Q&A sessions to reinforce their learning.

To successfully pass the course, delegates must achieve a score of 80% or higher on the final assessment. It is important to note that the Safety Awareness course must be completed alongside a module to qualify for an operational card.

Day 2 – WJA Drain & Sewer Jetting Application

The Drain and Sewer Jetting Course combines comprehensive theory and hands-on practical training to cover all key aspects of drain and sewer cleaning. Participants will learn to identify and resolve common issues using the correct pressures, nozzles, and accessories, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Designed for operatives and supervisors who use high-pressure water jetting equipment for cleaning drains, sewers, and pipes, this half-day course provides a deeper understanding of water jetting applications. Delegates will gain practical, hands-on experience with the equipment, emphasising safe and effective operation.

Assessment and Accreditation

The courses conclude with a practical observation and a short-answer question paper. Delegates must successfully pass this assessment to qualify for the WJA-accredited certificate and ID card, valid for five years.
