N403 Vehicle Marshal – NPORS Accredited

Overview

The Vehicle Marshal N403 NPORS certification provides essential skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to safely and effectively communicate with and guide vehicles. This certification is designed for plant operators who require both theoretical and practical training and assessment to direct or marshal vehicles as part of their daily on-site responsibilities.

Delegates will engage in a combination of practical exercises and theory-based tutorials, covering key areas such as manufacturer guidelines, general responsibilities, and best practices in vehicle marshalling. Participants will also take part in practical plant operating activities, with a focus on safety procedures and industry-approved methods.

The course is fully accredited by NPORS and adheres to national standards and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Additional Information

For those seeking a CSCS logo on their operator card, please note that a Health, Safety, & Environment Test must have been passed within the last two years.

Please Note: Course Duration is one day. However, options vary to accommodate differing levels.

Novice training – one day with a maximum of three delegates. Refresher training – one day with a maximum of three delegates. Assessment only (no training) – maximum of six delegates

Duration will be confirmed once previous experience is given.

Upon a successful completion you will gain the knowledge of:

A basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a vehicle marshal
Knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular vehicle / machine to be guided
A good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for vehicle marshal duties
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area including stop blocks and tipping areas
Set up exclusion zone for unloading
Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction including confined spaces and “blind areas” safely and efficiently
Environmental considerations
Carry out all end of shift and shut down and parking procedures

Course content

Upon successfully completing the course you will be sent an NPORS card certifying you have passed this course.

Your days will include a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon, you will also be allowed a 30 minute break for lunch.

Ensure your bring your OWN lunch.

You must bring or know your national insurance number.

You will need to bring full PPE.
