Emergency First Aid at Work

Overview

At Glanville Training, we are committed to equipping you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a confident and effective first aider. Our comprehensive Emergency First Aid at Work course spans over 1 day, providing you with the basic understanding of first aid principles and practical training that can be applied in various emergencies in the workplace. This course is designed to enable participants to take charge of an incident if an illness or injury occurs in the workplace and provide support and assistance to a fully qualified first aider.

Course Structure

Our training program combines hands-on, practical exercises with informative tutor presentations, ensuring that you have the best opportunity to master the practicalities of first-aid treatment.

Over one day, you will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Learn the essential responsibilities and actions of a workplace first aider, including rapid assessment and effective response to emergencies.
  • Acquire skills to take control of emergency scenes, assess injuries or illnesses, and maintain meticulous incident records.
  • Grasp the importance of infection control, covering PPE use, hand hygiene, and safe waste disposal.
  • Gain expertise in assessing and providing initial care for unconscious individuals, including CPR if needed.
  • Learn to recognise when CPR is necessary, perform chest compressions and rescue breaths.
  • Develop skills for these specific scenarios, including dislodging obstructions, wound care, and shock management.
  • Learn to assess and treat small cuts, grazes, and minor burns while offering comfort and reassurance.

Assessment and Certification

Your progress will be assessed through practical evaluations at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, you will receive a course attendance certificate, which is valid for three years. It is essential to renew your certificate before the expiry date or within one month after the expiry date to ensure your first aid skills remain up to date and effective.

Upon a successful completion you will gain the knowledge of:

Understand the first aider's role
Manage and record incidents
Prevent cross-infection
Deal with unconscious casualties
Administer CPR
First aid for choking, bleeding, and shock
Provide first aid for minor injuries

Course content

Upon successfully completing the course you will be awarded a certificate.

Your days will include a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon, you will also be allowed a 30 minute break for lunch.

Ensure your bring your own lunch.

You must bring or know your national insurance number.

Course cancellations made within 5 working days prior of the course date, or, where delegates fail to attend the training course on the course date, will be charged in full. All cancellations must be made in writing. Delegate substitutions may be made prior to the course start date giving written notice. (If any further information required please refer to T&Cs).
